Book Launch Events

8950481As our anthology goes into final design and production, our thoughts turn to celebration! Long months of reading, selecting, editing, polishing, and proofing are almost over. Party time!

This is a special book with a fabled legacy, the ’60s and ’70s. Its stories and poems evoke those times, but we hope to add a nostalgic flair to our own launch events.

We have a few planned in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lucky to have chosen contributors who currently live here (though our selections were blind), we anticipate success in three local events coming up in September and October and one virtual party. For more information, click here.

We won’t be handing out free acid tabs or asking guests to sign anti-war petitions, but peasant dresses and sandals might bring us back, a touch of patchouli or incense sticks burning on a table might create a mood. Live guitar music with Dylan songs will help us remember the old unease of our minds.

We’ll have wine, but not cheap bottles like the Chianti we prized enclosed in a straw basket, great for holding candles later. We may not have party rye bread slices smeared with Spam that once passed for appetizers or tiny pretzels in a bowl. Those radical decades were not gourmet. We won’t pass around the Wesson oil for orgies to follow. Nor will we ask all present to meditate on a point just in front of their third eye.

What we will do is provide a forum for listening to the voices of women who were there, who experienced first hand life-changing moments that changed the way we all live today. We hope to honor this legacy through the stories and poems written by women who lived those decades with their eyes wide open and who remembered.

We hope that if you can, you will come in your best ’60s or ’70s styles. If you are one of our contributing authors, we hope that you’ll sponsor your own launch parties to share and enjoy the book.

And now…drum roll…we await the release of the book and the time when we can hold it in our hands and celebrate. Soon!
